The Opto Engineering ITALA G Series includes four ITALA® camera models equipped with Sony Polarsens™ sensors, available in 5 MP and 12 MP resolutions (ITAxx-GC-1xC-PL models).
Sony Polarsens™ technology integrates a multidirectional polarizer directly into the image sensor, allowing each pixel to capture not only brightness and color information but also the polarization state of the incoming light.
Unlike conventional polarizing filters, which often require multiple captures or mechanical adjustments, Sony Polarsens™ sensors acquire polarization data across the entire image in a single exposure, providing pixel-level polarization information without additional optical components.
By capturing polarization information, ITALA® cameras help reduce glare and unwanted reflections from transparent and highly reflective materials such as glass, plastics, and metals. This makes it easier to highlight relevant features and improve inspection reliability in demanding machine vision applications.
Polarization functions available through the API
The ITALA® camera API provides dedicated functions to retrieve:
- Angle of Linear Polarization (AoLP)
- Degree of Linear Polarization (DoLP)
- Stokes parameters
- Four parallel images corresponding to the sensor’s raw polarization channels
